I'm painfully addicted to Bramble Blast, a CD it ironically took me forever to get. I also like to unnerve my friends by making the Snake Eater instrumental the main theme for Shadow Moses, attempting to provoke sing-alongs.
I don't have any clear favorites yet, (there is still so much I have not unlocked/collected ... and I really don't know how much I like a song until I have heard it several times. Some songs sound good the first time I hear them, but grow old quickly, while others slowly grow on me.).
... however, I seem to favor the silly songs like "Mona's Pizza" (Wario Ware), "Humoresque of a little dog" (Earthbound/Mother), and a Shop/Town hall song from Animal Crossing (which I've never played).
I find the selection of music to be quite spectacular, but the quality to be very hit and miss.
There are some songs that I thought used to be boring (or I've never heard before) that have been made AWESOME, other songs that I loved the originals of that I feel were absolutely BUTCHERED, (SNES Star Fox Theme, "Tal Tal Heights" from Links awakening, etc.), and other old classics with entertaining new twists, (like the "Mushroomy Kindom" ground theme 1 mix).
Honesly, many of my favorites are the ones that have not been "Remixed" at all, but dirrectly ported, like the Super Mario Sunshine tunes, the classic sonic tracks, (SONIC BOOM!!!) the Pikmin music, some of the StarFox Assault orchestrated tunes, and the returning remixed tunes from Melee (though I think some actually lost something in the translation).
There are also alot of songs from games I've never played, which seem to be mediocre remixes of mediocre tunes.
Overall, it's not exactly a solid gold sound-track, but there are enough Jems in the mix to still make it one of the best Videogame soundtracks EVER.
(And the option to turn off the songs I don't like, and make the ones I do play more often helps smooth out the bumps and make it all sound as awesome as I want ... a very well appreciated option)
I guess It's like when you see a movie about a book, having never read the book before. The movie seems cooler if it's your first taste of the story, while if you read the book first, the opinion is almost universally "...the book was WAY better".
Though it was a bit screechy on the Game Boy speakers, (as most GameBoy games were), the original Tal Tal heights theme was much more dramatic than that, (EPIC even, the way I always heard it), while the Brawl version is a somewhat sloppy medley of the Mountain Theme and regular ground theme together, and the remix never quite climaxes the way the original did.
I'm yet to hear a rendition that I feel really does the original justice, but "Disco Dan"s 'Braving Tal Tal Heights' was pretty good I think. (though a little too dance/techno for my taste) [link]

Now that I listened to the Tal Tal Height songs, that is easily among my favorites.
I haven't played the Zelda game it came from but I think that's even better because I can create my own context to the song.

I'll stop hijacking the thread now ... only BRAWL related from now on ... (*Sorry*)
